The Second Home - Exhibition Statement

For this exhibit Suyao created a series of works that express the feeling and emotion experienced as an immigrant from China to the Twin Cities—the place where she has settled and is most emotionally connected to call home. This project documents the process of her family and exploring the Twin Cities in her daily life, walking through neighborhoods, parks, and lakes, and exploring nature on foot.

Through her use of vibrant colors, fluid lines, and organic shapes, she desires to remind viewers of the interconnectedness of our world and the importance of taking time to reflect and connect with our surroundings. Her art is a testament to the resilience and strength of the human spirit, and she believes it has the power to bring peace and happiness to all who view it.
